Trim any excess fat from the chicken thighs to ensure even cooking.

Combine paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, and cayenne if using. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the chicken thighs.

Coat the air fryer basket with non-stick spray. Arrange the seasoned chicken thighs in a single layer in the basket for optimal air flow.

Cook the chicken thighs for 7 minutes, then carefully flip each piece and cook for an additional 7 minutes.

Brush half of the barbecue sauce over one side of the chicken. Flip the pieces and brush the remaining sauce over the other side.

Continue air frying for 2–3 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 74°C.
