Beef Cabbage Quick Meal (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pound ground beef (lean)
02 - 1 onion (medium size), diced
03 - 1 cabbage (small head), cut into pieces
04 - 2 cans diced tomatoes with liquid (14.5 oz each)
05 - 1 tablespoon oil from olives

→ Seasonings

06 - 1 teaspoon powder from garlic
07 - 1 teaspoon herbs labeled Italian
08 - 1/2 teaspoon flakes of red pepper (skip if you want)
09 - Salt and black pepper as needed

# Instructions:

01 - Warm the oil from olives in a big pot or deep pan on medium flame. Toss in your diced onion and let it cook till it turns clear, around 5 minutes.
02 - Throw your beef into the pot with those soft onions. Keep breaking it up while it cooks until you don't see any pink spots, usually takes 5-7 minutes.
03 - Mix in your garlic powder, Italian herbs, hot pepper flakes if you're using them, plus some salt and pepper. Stir it all together so the flavors blend.
04 - Dump your cut-up cabbage into the pot. Pour all the tomatoes in with their juice too. Give everything a good mix so it's all combined.
05 - Get the mixture bubbling gently. Turn down the heat, put a lid on it, and let it cook slowly for about 25 minutes until the cabbage feels soft. Stir now and then so nothing sticks to the bottom.
06 - Try a bite and add more salt or pepper if it needs it. Serve it hot, maybe with some rice underneath or bread on the side for a full meal.

# Notes:

01 - Want more protein? Throw in a can of beans that you've drained and rinsed first.
02 - Ground turkey or chicken works great if you want something lighter than beef.
03 - You can keep leftovers in your fridge for up to 3 days and they'll still taste good when reheated.
