Set oven to 190°C to prepare for baking.

Boil ziti in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large bowl, combine 360 ml pasta sauce, ricotta cheese, 120 g mozzarella cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well blended.

Spread 120 ml pasta sauce over the base of a 33 x 23 cm baking dish. Add cooked ziti and cheese mixture, stirring together gently. Top with the remaining 240 ml pasta sauce, sprinkle evenly with the remaining 105 g mozzarella cheese and the grated pecorino romano.

Cover dish with aluminium foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, continue baking for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden and dish is bubbling.

Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
