Simple Honey Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Baking Essentials

01 - 1/2 tsp baking powder
02 - 175 g (6.1 oz, 1.4 cups) all-purpose flour
03 - 2 tsp vanilla powder or vanilla extract
04 - 90 g (3.1 oz, ½ cup) white sugar
05 - 3 tbsp honey or 2 tbsp golden syrup (for a rich flavor)
06 - 100 g (3.5 oz) butter, softened

# Instructions:

01 - Turn your oven to 180°C (356°F) so it's ready to bake when the cookies are prepared.
02 - Take the softened butter and sugar and mix them well in a bowl until they’re fluffy and well-blended. This will give the cookies their buttery base.
03 - Add the rest: toss in the flour, baking powder, vanilla, and honey (or golden syrup for a more caramel-like touch). Blend everything together until you have a smooth dough that holds its shape.
04 - Split the dough into three pieces. Use your hands to roll each piece into a cylinder. They don’t need to be perfect, just smooth and even.
05 - Line a baking tray with non-stick paper and place the dough rolls on it. Make sure to leave lots of space between them as the dough spreads while cooking.
06 - Slightly flatten the dough rolls with your fingertips, then bake in the oven for 12-14 minutes until they’re lightly golden.
07 - Don’t wait for the cookies to cool! While they’re still warm and soft, carefully slice them diagonally into pieces. If you wait too long, they might crack.
08 - Leave the sliced cookies on the tray to cool down completely before enjoying. Once cooled, they’ll have that ideal crispy yet slightly soft texture.

# Notes:

01 - These honey-flavored cookies are buttery and have just a hint of caramel sweetness.
02 - Want a more caramel taste? Use golden syrup instead of honey!
