Stir together the soft cream cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl. Blend everything until it's smooth and even.

Smear the spicy mixture across one bread slice. Pile the shredded cheddar on top, then cap it with the second bread slice.

Smear half your soft butter on the top bread slice. Press half the parmesan into this butter with your fingertips so it sticks well and forms a coating.

Warm up a pan on medium for a couple minutes. Drop the sandwich in with the buttery parmesan side facing the pan.

While the bottom cooks, spread your leftover butter on the bread side facing up. Pat the rest of your parmesan into this buttered surface.

Let it cook about 4-5 minutes until you get a crispy golden parmesan crust that doesn't stick when you try to move it.

Gently flip your sandwich over and cook another 4-5 minutes, until this side turns golden and crunchy and all the cheese inside gets gooey.
