Clean oranges well. Cut them into thin rounds about ⅛-¼ inch thick and take out any seeds you find.

Mix sugar and water in a wide pan. Warm it over medium heat while stirring until sugar fully melts into a transparent liquid.

Turn heat down low and put orange rounds in flat without overlapping. Let them cook softly for 45-60 minutes, turning them now and then until they look see-through.

Gently move the sweet orange circles to a wire rack with parchment underneath to catch drips. Let them sit for at least a full day until they feel only slightly sticky but firm when touched.

After drying, you can roll the slices in white sugar for a pretty, sparkly look.

Put your finished orange slices in a sealed container at room temp for up to a week. They're great for topping desserts, drinks, or just snacking!
