Effortless Strawberry Pop Tarts (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pastry

01 - 2 tablespoons sugar, granulated
02 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
03 - Half a cup of cold salted butter, cubed
04 - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (extra needed for dusting later)
05 - ½ cup chilled water

→ Filling

06 - ¾ cup strawberry jam

→ Icing

07 - A cup of powdered sugar
08 - Red sugar crystals
09 - 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk

# Instructions:

01 - Blend butter cubes, sugar, and flour in a processor. Mix in water and vanilla, then chill for a while (20-30 mins).
02 - Roll your dough into a thin layer (about 1/4"), slice it into rectangle shapes. Spoon on jam, place another rectangle on top, and press edges to seal.
03 - Cut tiny holes for venting on the tops. Pop into a 400°F oven for 15 mins, or until they’re golden and crispy.
04 - After cooling off, whisk icing ingredients, coat the tarts, and scatter red sugar crystals on top.

# Notes:

01 - Wait until just before eating to add icing—it looks and tastes better.
02 - For more flavor, mix a little lemon juice into the jam.
03 - You can make the dough ahead of time and pop it in the fridge.
